Baked Sweet Potatoes
Yields:________
Total Time:________

Ingredients:

x Whole Sweet Potatoes (however many you need)

Equipment:

  • Olive Oil (Optional)
  • Basting Brush (Optional)
  • Fork (Optional)
  • Oven
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Soap & Water
  • Hand Towel or Paper Towels
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Pot Holders/Oven Mitts

Pre-Preparation:

  1. Lay out all ingredients/equipment 15 minutes prior to cooking/baking.

    Cooking Tip:

    1. If you are pressed for time and in a pinch; you could poke some holes with the tines of a fork all over the uncooked potatoes and brush olive oil over the skin so after the potatoes have cooked through you can separate the skin from the potatoes. HOWEVER, bare in mind you will want to separate the skin from the potato in a spare bowl to prevent any potato skins from falling into your casserole. Seeing as how this process could be fairly messy, I prefer to peel the potatoes BEFORE cooking them, then wrap them in aluminum foil.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425 Degrees.
  2. Poke some holes with the tines of a fork all over the uncooked potatoes to ensure the potatoes cook all the way through.
  3. Wrap potatoes in aluminum foil
  4. Place on a cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  6. Once potatoes are done, remove potatoes from oven with a Pot Holder/Oven Mitts.
  7. Unwrap and check to make sure potatoes have softened with a fork and are appropriately done.
  8. Allow potatoes to cool, and turn off oven so it can cool down.
  9. Once potatoes are cool, proceed to either Sweet Potato Casserole or Sweet Potato Pie.
