Fried Okra

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 lbs Okra (Chopped)
  • 2-3 Tablespoons Cornmeal
  • 2-3 Tablespoons Flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil

Equipment:

  • Shallow Bottom Cookie Sheet OR Frying Pan
  • Gallon-Size Freezer Bag
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Paper Towels
  • Ceramic Plate

Pre-Preparation:

  1. Lay out all ingredients/equipment 15 minutes prior to cooking/baking.

Directions:

  1. Pour oil in bottom of baking pan and preheat oven to 425 Degrees OR Pour half of your oil into your frying pan if you choose to cook it that way. The preferred method is baking.
  2. Using your freezer bag, pour in your cornmeal, flour, salt, okra and pepper.
  3. Then shake bag to combine everything.
  4. Once combined then pour into your frying pan or baking pan.
  5. If you choose to bake your okra bake them at 425 Degrees for 30-40 minutes.
  6. If you choose to fry your okra fry over medium heat for 30-40 minutes.
  7. once okra is cooked thoroughly, spoon okra out onto a paper towel lined plate to drain.
